QO Booster Club News

The Quince Orchard High School (QOHS) Booster Club welcomes all its neighbors to the fall 2010 Cougar season. The first football game in the Cougar Dome will take place on Friday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m. against Damascus High School. Order season tickets to all QOHS sports by going to www.QOHS.org and clicking on Cougar Store clothes and passes.

“Defending the Caveman” is coming to QOHS on Nov 20. This hilarious show has played in 45 countries around the world to more than 8 million people. The show is sponsored by the Booster Club, and the proceeds help fund the wide variety of groups, teams and clubs in the school. Watch for ticket information coming soon.

Back to School

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) resume on August 30, and teachers will be readying their classrooms on August 23. The city of Gaithersburg will host a principals’ breakfast on August 19 at the Bohrer Park Activity Center, and MCPS will hold its annual back-to-school fair Back to School Fair on Saturday, August 28, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the grounds of the Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive Rockville.

Kids Ride Free Program Suspended

Due to fiscal constraints, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation Kids Ride Free Program was suspended. Students may still purchase a monthly Youth Cruiser Monthly Pass that offers unlimited rides on Ride-On buses only. For more information contact the Ride-On and Transit Services at 240.777.7433. 

Kindergarten Play Dates at Billy’s Playground

Rachel Carson Elementary School’s incoming kindergartners are invited to a second play date at Billy’s Playground from 10 a.m. – noon on August 25 at Lakelands Park. This is a great chance to meet new friends before school begins on August 30. Drinks and a light snack will be provided.

Gaithersburg Tot Time Program

Registration is now open for Gaithersburg’s Tot Time preschool program. Classes are held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 3-year-olds, and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 4-years-olds, throughout the school year.

All classes are held at Casey Community Center, 810 S. Frederick Avenue (just north of Shady Grove Road). Please note that all children must be potty trained. The school year fee for Tuesday/Thursday classes for 3-year-olds is $680 for city of Gaithersburg residents and $800 for nonresidents. The school year fee for Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes for four year olds is $945 for Gaithersburg residents and $1,115 for nonresidents. Registration is going on now, and slots are limited. Classes start September 8. In-person registration is required at Casey Community Center.
