Look for contractors to begin clearing vines and invasive plant material from Little Quarry Park in Kentlands (near Chestertown Street to the picnic area) within the next few weeks.

“The process involves cutting and removing vines from trees, flush cutting all invasive plant material to ground level, pruning trees and removing dead/broken ones, and removing all associated debris,” said Gaithersburg Public Works Director Jim Arnoult.

City crews will also be clearing other areas in the park, Arnoult said.

“This effort will provide better visibility into the park and pond from Chestertown and wider walking paths once overgrown plant material is removed,” he said.

According to Arnoult, nearby residents are being notified about the work and staff plans to hold a meeting later this spring to evaluate what has been done and to generate ideas about future maintenance.
