With the mild winter temperatures, it is not hard to envision swim season right around the corner. The Lakelands Lionfish and the Kentlands Kingfish are both looking forward to banner seasons.

The Lionfish kicked off the preseason with an ice cream social on March 11 for new and returning swim families. With official registration set for April 22, the team is looking to exceed the 200+ swimmers that swam last year. Head Coach Brooke Hoffman returns after guiding the Lionfish in a successful 2011 campaign that boosted the team into Division F for 2012, along with Assistant Coaches Michaela Nesmith and Jesse Cunningham.

Lakelands time trials are set for June 9 for all swimmers. The “A” meet schedule is complete and kicks off with Palisades on June 16. The “B” meet schedule is still being determined but tentatively features the perennial favorite Kentlands vs. Lakelands showdown on July 3.

The Kingfish come into 2012 after an undefeated season in Division F. The impressive season returned the team to Division D where they competed in the 2010 season. Registration for the Kingfish is scheduled for April 28 with time trials on June 9.

The Kingfish will be guided by veteran Head Coach Rob Washburn and Assistant Head Coach Ellie Miskiel as they open the season against local powerhouse Quince Orchard. The social committee is hard at work planning events for parents and swimmers alike as the season get closer!

Quince Orchard Park swimmers can join the Diamond Farms Stingrays swim team. The Stingrays will compete in Division M and will start the season on June 16 at Fallsmead. The team, which is in the process of finalizing its 2012 coaching staff, will hold a “Meet the Coaches” social on May 20 at the Quince Orchard Park Community Center to kick off its season.
