Steps that Count 2011
Help fight kidney disease in the nation’s capital on June 11 at the American Kidney Fund’s “Steps that Count” walk at Nationals Park. Walk alone or recruit a team, and help raise money for programs and services that help kidney patients and raise awareness of kidney disease. This all-day event will also include free kidney health screenings and education, cooking demonstrations and food samplings, giveaways, and fun exercise routines to fight back against kidney disease.

On May 21, The Arthritis Foundation will hold the 2011 Annapolis Arthritis Walk at Quiet Waters Park. The Arthritis Walk is a nationwide signature event that raises awareeness to fight arthritis as well as funding for arthritis research, health education and government advocacy initiatives.
The Annapolis Arthritis Walk is a free event that raises money through sponsorship and personal fundraising efforts. Participants who raise $100 or more receive a T-shirt. Participants can enjoy food, raffle prizes, entertainment and awards all to raise funds to fight arthitis. Each participant is given their own website to aid in the fundraising efforts. Approximately 1,078,000 people in Maryland have arthritis. Many walk in honor of a friend or family member who suffers from arthritis and its difficulties. Participants may walk a 5K, 3K, or 1K course at their own pace and enjoy the park at no cost.
